Impressive bit of kit. Seems to run pretty much anything. The C64 was the first computer I ever owned though I found it at a garage sale since it was old even when I first got it. I actually had a pretty decent collection going from garage sales, flea markets, and thrift stores. Also my dad's coworker had a whole big collection of disks. I do believe I had a fastload cartridge and several 1541s. I even had a SX-64.which I understand are very rare. Can't remember what happened to most of it. I was rather annoyed one time where I picked up a C64 from a thrift store and some jerk had removed every single chip out of it and then donated it.

gotta wonder if these devices work with a C128? my last 2 add on devices (kung fu flash and sd2iec) did not properly support c128 and 80col modes. they were promptly returned and negative feedback was given.

I collected a bunch of Commodore stuff when I was younger from garage sales and thrift stores, and I would've loved to have something like this. Though I think I've become spoiled by modern computers too much and have so little free time I don't think I would have the patience anymore to play around on a commodore. It was rather amazing how much stuff there was for it. I was lucky and my dad knew somebody from work who had a whole huge collection of disks with all kinds of software, that kept me busy for years. I'm a bit lucky that I kind of worked my way up through the years using old computers so I experienced C64, DOS, Windows 3.1, 95, 98, Me, XP, 7, 10, and now 11. If I had started now on a modern OS and went back to try one of those old systems it would be a struggle/challenge, and maybe I wouldn't appreciate how groundbreaking and awe-inspiring it was when it first came out, because if something had amazing graphics I'd be spoiled by modern ones and wouldn't get the full sense of awe of it being the best graphics I'd ever seen on that system, I'd just think, wow, this is somewhat less bad than everything else on this hunk of junk.

I have a 1050 with the Sparta DOS US Doubler. Before I added the US Doubler, I had a friend with a C64. We set them up side by side and loaded the same game from disk. I was playing a good 3 or more minutes before his finally came up. I couldn’t understand why the C64 drive was so slow back then.

As the pi/nano boards emulator the microdrive down to original interface level it can't be so hard to have the same hardware managing a real microdrive and having that accessible via USB. Would make a good project for my pi QL Emulator

Hardly worth a video. The target market is people who owned one of the 5 million or so amiga 500s sold, but who dont have all day to mess about with Raspeberry Pis and other nonsense. Most people who bought Amigas just played games on them. Often the same people who had Spectrums, C64s or Amstrads as younger children.

Looks like you built it incorrectly. Pin 1-5 should not be going to the C64 PCB but are to connect an external DAC to. Luckily it didnt damage anything.

Pretty cool piece of hardware, but what is annoying - there is no beeper and no proper stereo sound output from the AY chip by default. They probably saved a ton of money on a tiny embedded speaker.

I loved my A600! It was easy to fit into a bag for transport to friends houses. I really missed the numerical keypad when play fa18 interceptor though!

We had this game on our Apple IIGS back in the late 80s and kids mode was uber fun since you didn't need a torch unless you go down the dragon's den. Regular mode was scary back then and it still is today lol
